If the lid is removed from the plate cassette, the trash compactor sweeps the slip sheets towards the front of the bay, the lid is put back on the cassette, and the trash compactor returns to its home position. If the lid is already on the cassette, then the trash compactor does not move. The bay door is then unlocked and the plate carrier is unlatched. The carrier can be pulled partially out of the bay. The nose-wheel must be lowered or the plate cart must be docked to pull the carrier the rest of the way out of the bay. After re-loading the plate cassette, the carrier must be pushed fully home before the bay door will re-lock.
